With my background in music and theatre, I love working with people and I love communicating. Working as Oddbox's in-house copywriter allows me to lean into my creativity, and focusing on our community in my marketing work allows me to keep that creativity going while thinking about how to best get our mission across to people, in both passive and interactive ways. I'm really proud to work for a company which cares about doing the right thing.
It's great to work for an organisation which is so socially engaged, both in terms of fighting the climate crisis, but also treating people with kindness, respect and inclusivity both within the company and beyond. I really enjoy having the freedom to put my personality into my work both in terms of the literal copy I write, but also in terms of having agency to suggest ideas and solutions throughout our work. There's plenty of variety in this job and at this company, and I'm happy to say I really enjoy every bit of it.
Oddbox is a community-powered weekly rescue mission to save delicious, fresh fruit and veg which is deemed ‘too big’, ‘too ugly’, the ‘wrong colour', or simply ‘too many’ from going to waste. It delivers its boxes directly from the growers to people’s doorsteps across London, the South and the Midlands.
With food waste being a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, Oddbox is building a community that together can play its part in fighting food waste and tackling climate change. A proud B Corp with over seven million boxes delivered since it launched in 2016, Oddbox has already saved 13,790 tonnes of food waste with a goal of saving 150,000 tonnes by 2025.
