Hi! I'm Jack - a Lead Software Engineer here at Oddbox. I'm responsible for the technical implementation and delivery of software that allows us to pick, pack and deliver our boxes to customers doorsteps. I've been at Oddbox since June 2022, and have seen a lot of growth in our engineering team over that time.
The engineering team I work in is responsible for all the operational technology within Oddbox. Our technology helps us with things such as configuring routes for our drivers; informing our packing team what to put in each box; and storing all the information about our fruit and veg that we rescue from farms.
I'm a big fan of automation through technology. My house is largely automated with some precarious looking code that I tinker with, which I do occasionally come to regret when I'm trying to figure out why all my lights turned off in the evening! We're a big fan of automation at Oddbox too, and we always look to empower the operational teams by making those tedious manual processes run in a "magical" automatic way.
Oddbox is a community-powered weekly rescue mission to save delicious, fresh fruit and veg which is deemed ‘too big’, ‘too ugly’, the ‘wrong colour', or simply ‘too many’ from going to waste. We delivers our boxes directly from the growers to people’s doorsteps across the UK.
With food waste being a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, Oddbox is building a community that together can play its part in fighting food waste and tackling climate change. We're a proud B Corp and have delivered over eight million boxes since we launched in 2016.
