Hi, I'm Bels and I am part of the buying team here at Oddbox.
With a background in Operations, I joined Oddbox as a Production Coordinator in March 2021. Six months later however, I thought I would try my hand in the world of procurement leaping at an opportunity to join the Sourcing team on a secondment initially. Three months after this I was given a full time role in the team as a Buying Coordinator. Having developed my knowledge and skills over the next nine months, I was then promoted to Junior Buyer. Since then I have covered a few different product categories, but I currently look after all things fruit.
My favourite part of my job is being responsible for the Add Ons - a selection of additional, last-minute rescues that we offer our customers each week. They tend to be slightly more unique products (ever heard of Kiwiberries?), but always just as tasty.
Oddbox is a community-powered weekly rescue mission to save delicious, fresh fruit and veg which is deemed ‘too big’, ‘too ugly’, the ‘wrong colour', or simply ‘too many’ from going to waste. It delivers its boxes directly from the growers to people’s doorsteps across London, the South and the Midlands.
With food waste being a major contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, Oddbox is building a community that together can play its part in fighting food waste and tackling climate change. A proud B Corp with over seven million boxes delivered since it launched in 2016, Oddbox has already saved 13,790 tonnes of food waste with a goal of saving 150,000 tonnes by 2025.
